Walking Holidays in Andalucia
skiing in Sierra Nevada
The Sierra Nevada mountains
range has the most southerly ski resort in Europe.
Although it is quite small in comparison to other
European resorts, the facilities are considered top
rate and it has, therefore, hosted numerous national
and international ski events. Depending on the snow
levels, the season generally runs from the end of
November or the beginning of December until sometime
in April.
The nearest airport to the Sierra
Nevada is the airport of Granada. From there you are
still about a 40 minutes car drive to Pradollano, the
mountain top skiing resort.
The bigger and better linked airport is the
one of Malaga (Pablo Picasso - AGP), but it is about
1.5 hours away by car to Granada.
There is a fast motorway from Malaga to Granada.
If you like to enjoy the Sightseeing then the best route
by car is the seaside road from Malaga to Torre del mar,
Torrox Costa, Nerja, Almijara, La Herradura, Torre del
Diablo, Salobreña, Maracena, Vélez de Benaudalla and
then Granada.
It is worth including Granada and Al-Hambra
in your itinerary. You could stay in Granada and visit
both the ski resort in Sierra Nevada and Al-Hambra in
addition to sightseeing Granada itself.
